MADELYN DEUTCH
(Alex)

Los Angeles born actress and musician Madelyn Deutch began singing Broadway duets at age 10 with heavyweights such as Dick Van Dyke, Wayne Brady, and members of the cast of Frasier, Seinfeld and more.

During her high school years at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, she became a nationally recognized singer, participating in the Grammy Ensemble and Brubeck Summer Colony.

Sweeping the Monterey Jazz Festival's 50th Anniversary and receiving an Outstanding Soloist Award from Downbeat Magazine, Deutch won the esteemed Silver Award from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts and was granted a scholarship to the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. After graduating from high school, Deutch performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in support of the Presidential Scholars ceremony. She graduated with honors in May 2011 from the New School University in New York City.

In the summer of 2009, Deutch completed her first film and composed three original songs for Mayor Cupcake, appearing alongside Judd Nelson, her mother Lea Thompson and her sister Zoey Deutch. She has since appeared in a number of films, including Christmas Twister, starring Casper Van Dien; Like A Country Song, starring Billy Ray Cyrus; Lowlifes, starring Quinton Aaron; and The Dog Who Saved Easter, starring Catherine Hicks.

Deutch’s award-winning equestrian skills can be seen in the role of Alex, a streetwise exercise rider, in the upcoming film 50 to 1. The film is based on the true story of racehorse Mine That Bird and his long-shot journey to the Kentucky Derby.
